With Vivo (also known as Blue Factory) leading the way in July, the smartphone rankings for January to July have been dramatically reshuffled, with nearly every brand experiencing a shift in its position. Apple has dropped to fifth, Huawei is now third, and Vivo, with a slight edge, has reclaimed the top spot with a 16.9% market share.

Vivo Takes the Top Spot
Vivo claims the top spot with a market share of 16.9%, with iQOO accounting for 4.8% of this total. Compared to the first half of the year (H1), Vivo has both increased its market share and improved its ranking, largely due to its strong performance in the July rankings. Key models like the iQOO Z10 series, Vivo X200s, and Vivo Y300 series have played a significant role in this success. Even more impressively, Vivo’s market share has remained significantly high in the August weekly rankings, solidifying its position as the leading brand for Q3. It seems Vivo is likely to clinch the third-quarter championship.

Xiaomi Comes in Second
Xiaomi takes the second position with a market share of 16.8%, trailing Vivo by only 0.1%. This is the only brand that has maintained its position from the H1 rankings. Compared to H1, Xiaomi’s market share has slightly decreased, likely due to the lack of new product releases and sales. However, the good news is that the Redmi Note 15 series has officially launched, and we will soon see its performance in the first three days of sales—definitely something to look forward to!

Huawei Falls to Third Place
Huawei comes in third with a market share of 16.4%, just 0.4% behind Xiaomi. For comparison, in the H1 rankings of 2025, Huawei ranked first with a market share of 17.2%. The decline can be attributed to the lack of a robust native HarmonyOS ecosystem, which is hindering growth. Currently, Huawei is addressing this issue with solutions, and we all hope this transition period will pass soon.

OPPO in Fourth Place
OPPO secures fourth place with a market share of 14.8%, 1.6% behind Huawei. Compared to the H1 rankings of 2025, OPPO was in fifth place with a 14.7% market share. In July, OPPO ranked third with a 16.1% share, just 1% behind Xiaomi, thanks to the success of the OPPO Reno 14 series, OnePlus Ace 5 series, and OPPO A5 series. The August rankings are expected to maintain its position as it aims for third place.

Apple Slips to Fifth
Apple rounds out the top five with a market share of 14.5%, just 0.3% behind OPPO. Compared to the H1 of 2025, both Apple’s ranking and market share have declined, which is understandable given that July and August are typically off-season for Apple phones. In July, Apple ranked sixth with an 11.6% market share, and the decline continued in August. It’s likely that Apple’s market share will continue to dip until the release of the iPhone 17 series, which is expected to regain some momentum for the brand.
Thoughts
Regarding the 2025 domestic smartphone rankings for January to July, My personal opinion as follows: As predicted, Q3 is expected to be Vivo’s time to shine, and barring any surprises, Vivo will be the champion of Q3. For Q4, the likely champion is Apple, with Huawei and Xiaomi leading the first two quarters. Therefore, predicting the annual rankings is quite challenging. Who do you think will come out on top?
