If you’re visiting Xuzhou, Jiangsu, don’t miss these three streets. Each offers a unique glimpse into the city’s history, culture, and local flavors.
1. Huilongwo Historical & Cultural Street
Huilongwo is a blend of Instagram-worthy spots, traditional handicrafts, and creative markets—truly a snapshot of old Xuzhou. This ancient-style street is lined with traditional architecture and a wide variety of snacks. Located at No. 8 Jiefang Road, Yunlong District, Huilongwo dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

The area earned its name because the low-lying land collected rainwater from the nearby Hubu Mountain, forming a “returning dragon pond,” hence Huilongwo. The street preserves architecture from the late Qing and Republican eras, with white walls and dark tiles, over 200 years old.
Visitors can explore trendy shops, cafés, cultural experiences, and leisure activities. At night, Huilongwo lights up spectacularly, becoming a hub for nightlife in Xuzhou. The Hubu Mountain night market is especially lively, offering a wide variety of local snacks and handmade crafts.
2. Hubu Mountain Pedestrian Street
A walk along Hubu Mountain Street is like walking through half of Xuzhou’s history. Hubu Mountain is not only a natural scenic spot but also a cultural landmark. The ancient-style architecture centers around Xima Terrace, where the famous Western Chu general Xiang Yu once stationed horses and rewarded his soldiers.

The street is surrounded by historical residences and famous people’s former homes. A circular trail connects various attractions, perfect for photography. Shops line the street, from antique paintings to local snacks, offering a mix of commercial energy and traditional city life. Hubu Mountain pedestrian street is free to access, with some museums charging a small fee.
3. Fengchu Street
Fengchu Street—literally “Abundant Grain and Storage”—is a historic street renowned for its culinary offerings. Located in Yunlong District, it stretches east to Democracy South Road, west across the Kui River, and south to Jiefang Road.

Originally a hub for grain stores, Fengchu Street hosted over thirty grain businesses in the early 20th century. Today, it is a famous food street, attracting locals with dishes from all over China.
Most shops are long-established, and the food is reliably delicious, reasonably priced, and less crowded—perfect for a true taste of Xuzhou. The street is roughly 300 meters long, lined with over 100 popular food stalls, offering specialties like braised pork trotters, snails, fried steaks, iced jelly desserts, rice noodles, and more.
